ABOUT us
OUR STORY
Hi! We are Marco Duenas and Jorgelina Lopez, the husband-and-wife duo behind LA LOUPE - A Baltimore-based design studio creating handcrafted interior lighting and home decor objects.
La Loupe has its origins in Buenos Aires, Argentina when I (Jorgelina), in 2014 after graduating as a Textile Designer, started exploring fiber to create tridimesional objects, experimenting with sculptural pieces and prototyping some ideas for a lighting collection.
In 2015, I relocated to the USA where Marco and I reconnected in Baltimore, MD. In 2016 I continued pursuing this first idea that I had in Bs. As. Marco, being a cross-disciplinary artist, was the perfect partner, and that same year we began to work on our first lighting collection.
This initial collection allowed us to explore the dynamic of our design process and to find the balance between our different aesthetic and creative approaches. Since then, we have been designing together and making handcrafted home objects at our design studio and woodshop in Baltimore, Maryland.
la Loupe
Influenced by 20th-century art and design movements, geometric forms and clean lines are reflected in the pieces we craft. Our collections are inspired by the process of working with traditional craft techniques and exploring their relationship with contemporary design.
The name La Loupe (loupe / lüp/: small magnifying glass) represents this process of exploration and discovery, a symbol of observation and visual attention that we bring to our designs.
From idea to design, from our studio to your home, we are behind in each step of the process. Bringing a creative idea to life and being personally involved in its production, is a practice that drives and connects us with the objects we create.
It is our goal to create timeless, permanent, and finely handmade pieces that find the perfect and beautiful balance between craft, art, and design.
Each piece is handcrafted by us at our textile studio and our woodshop in Baltimore, MD
