product care
We stand behind the quality of our work and with proper care, your lamp should last for many years to come. Remember to wash your hands and please handle with care when cleaning the shade. When handling the lampshade, if some of the creases pop up or are crushed, you can easily fix them by gently pushing the crease back into place.
We have designed our lamps with a very simple system that by just opening the top part of the lamp you can install and uninstall the shade for an easier cleaning.
- VACUUM ATTACHMENTS: Keep the shade clean regularly with the use of a soft brush or crevice for hard-to-reach areas vacuum attachment (make sure the attachment is clean). Gently vacuum the lamp trying not to spread any loose grime.
- OTHER ALTERNATIVES: To blow off loose dust and lint, we also recommend as an option, the use of an air duster or air blower. For pet hair, you can use masking tape or packing tape pressing the sticky part of the tape gently into the fabric.
- LAMPSHADE CLEANER SPONGE: For deeper cleaning, we recommend the use of a lampshade cleaner sponge. Use the dry sponge to gently wipe the shade removing any dirt and lint in the process. Natural sponges work best for this.
- MARKS AND STAINS: For small marks and scuffs, we recommend the use of a stain remover product. Apply the product to the area affected, let it work for 5 minutes, and rub gently with a lightly wet and clean old toothbrush. Do not wash or rinse the area. Let it dry before installing back the shade to the fixture. Depending on the type of stain it may require multiple applications and the stain may not be removed completely.
Caring for your Tala lighting ensures it continues to brighten your spaces beautifully for years to come. Their high-quality bulbs and fixtures are designed to stand the test of time, and with a little care, you can keep them looking and performing their best.
- Always turn off power at the mains and allow the bulb or fixture to cool fully before commencing maintenance.
- We recommend the installation of all hardwired fixtures to be performed by a qualified electrician and following all necessary health and safety standards.
- Do not pull or expose the fixture cable with excessive force.
- Regularly clean the fixture with a feather duster or lint-free cloth to avoid dust build-up. Remove the bulb from the fixture, handle with gloves to prevent oil transfer, and avoid using solvents, abrasives, water, or vigorous rubbing to protect the surface.
- Do not place fixtures in conditions where they will be exposed to moisture levels exceeding their IP rating. See their guide to IP Ratings here.
- Do not over-tighten the bulb to the fixture and make sure to allow a small amount of flex.
- Once the bulb is installed in the fixture, check it is secure before turning the power on.
